The Factory by the Evans Group

The Factory by The Evans Groups is where I interned at in the spring of 2011. They are a company that makes all of their own label in the U.S. as well as producing clothes for designers that care about homegrown production. Jennifer Evans, the founder and co-owner, kindly invited me to help style a tunic from their line five different ways for a pitch to refinery29. The tunics came in wine, black, and brown with a deep v neck and long bell sleeves. These silk crepe de chine v-neck tunics are 195$ and only for purchase in store at 370 4th St, San Francisco CA 94107.

Coat, Zara. Knit Vest, H&M. Booties, Urban Outfitters. Necklace, My mother's from some village in India.
I picked browns to surround the wine tunic so that the warm richness of the color would stand out.

Jean Jacket, Gap. Snake Belt, No clue. Flats, JCrew. Jewelry, Some villages in India.
A pretty standard day-to-night outfit.

Jacket, FCUK. Necklace, Brandy Melville. Shoes, Sacha London. Ring, LUVAJ. Clutch, Brandy Melville.
You know what kind of outfit this is right? This is my "Let's go out, guys" look.

The Factory's French faux fur custom coats which are chemical-free and made from natural fibers (750$)
Unfortunately, I didn't take pictures of the other two outfits. Here's a shot of me in the softest faux fur I've ever touched and oddly enough the "fur" was made out of cotton. I thought all faux fur was plastic, clearly I need to step up my faux fur knowledge. The highlight of my day was definitely wearing a coat that had a matching pillow.
I had so much fun building my style around these beautiful tunics, thank you so much Allison for letting me work with you today!

smart car + Jeremy Scott

I have been waiting my whole life for a collaboration like this and I didn't even know it.
I especially love it when tech and fashion minds meld together, the contrast of their outfits belies the fact that they their intelligence levels are so similar. I mean despite the fact that they're in totally different fields.
Also, look it's a car with wings!

Scarf, H&M. Coat, Nordstrom. Top, Anthropologie. Pants, No Idea they're hand-me-downs and tagless. Shoes, Nike. Glasses, Christian Dior.
I'd like to preface with the fact that I'm not super into having my picture taken. However, a lot of my friends are shy and if I'm going to coerce them into letting me style them and take their pictures I need to be able to be fine with having my own picture taken. PLUS,  I woke up this morning and felt a mildly dramatic day on it's way. Can you tell?

Necklace, Brandy Melville. Galaxy ring, Pixie Market. Lotus ring, Me&Ro.
I love this necklace, I got in their Santa Monica location last week because the Brandy in Norcal has a terrible selection. I think that the little skulls look like little teeth.

Watch, Marc Jacobs. Rainbow bracelet, JCrew. The rest are just things I was given, made, or found at random places.
The Man Repeller coined the term that centuries of Indians armed with stacks of bangles were looking for. Here is my arm party!

I felt like a turban today, but it just wasn't sitting right! There was quite a lot of adjusting. This is a pretty normal outfit for me, minus the turban. I wear fur like most people wear sweatshirts, always faux though.
This is the style by my eye on me!
P.S. Thank you so much Davis for taking these pictures xoxo

Fresh and Clean

Hat, TRUE. Cardigan, Uniqlo. Shirt, Stussy. Pants, Seven. Sneakers, Adidas Adizero.
This is my friend J. Hu. I jumped at the chance to work with him when he offered because this kid already has a wicked style eye and a carefully cultivated wardrobe. Most guys I know could and should take a few pointers from him. Since I know the way he puts things together pretty well, I wanted to push his color/ pattern combination boundaries a little but in a subtle way that would still work with his general aesthetic. He's not a matching kind of person but I always like to repeat colors in small details. We called this his blue outfit because of the laces, hat, light pattern on his shirt, and the striping on the cuffs on his cardigan.

Jacket, Zara. Cardigan, Zara. Tshirt, Unknown. Belt, Uniqlo. Pants, Levi Commuters. Shoes, Cole Haan Desert Boots.
This leather jacket from Zara he bought the day before I went over has a really nice rubbed down grain and I tried to highlight it's beautiful fawn color in this outfit. I wish you could feel how soft and buttery the leather of it was, I rubbed my face in the leather when he wasn't looking. Sorry, JHu. He wouldn't have put the black cardigan on underneath with this outfit but I like the deeper visual dimension it adds to the look.

Jacket, Northface. Tshirt, Upper Playground. Pants, Asos. Shoes, Nike Dunks. Beanie, Artex.
I love that J.Hu has that laidback California kid energy about him so that's what I thought of when putting this ensemble together. It's true this look isn't typical to California sun but sometimes when you're wandering dark forests or braving San Francisco fog you need to keep warm. I love cranberry pants on any man, I think this color should be the new staple of men's wardrobes so when I saw he had them I was psyched. The rest of the outfit is just supporting the pants; the tiny black and white checks of the jacket adding pattern, the shirt popping the richness of the pants more with the neon red in the lettering, and the beanie repeating the color.

Shirt, Calvin Klein. Pants, H&M Cargos. Shoes, Asos. Tank & Suspenders, Unknown.
You can see right off the bat that J. Hu is dapper, the kind of guy that can dress up a little and still have a casual air. This shirt was a beautiful material and I think the black of the tank underneath made the crispness of the white standout a little more.
My eyes have been quietly admiring J. Hu's style and I'm so glad he let me work with him. Thanks kid!

Green Scheme

This is my friend Davis, she agreed to let me style her up and take pictures of her. She's already got her own great vibe and this is what she came over in. I've always felt that green looks great on this girl and since she came over in a scaly dragon sweater I thought we would stick with the theme.

Sweater, Anthropologie. Dress, vintage. Bag, Ted Baker. Pin, Leah's great grandmas. Shoes, Sperry Top-Siders.
It doesn't look like fall in this picture, thank you sunshine all the time California, but I wanted to try out some of my own fall looks. I just graduated and am really starting to miss school and I think you can see it in this sort of school prep look. This green vintage grandma dress is hers and she's been rocking it a lot so I used it with a few of my own accessories. Davis went to college at the University of Virginia and brought these patent orange loafers back with her and I make fun of her all the time for them.  I know she loves them though so I worked them in too.

Jacket, FCUK. Shirt, Urban Outfitters. Pin, Vintage. Pants, UNIQLO. Sunglasses, AJ Morgan. Shoes, Tic-Tac-Toes.
I'm definitely missing school and it's showing. Here's another kinda fall-y collegiate outfit. I just got these emerald and navy pants from the newly opened Uniqlo SF and they hug her just right. Davis is an actor and had these great red and white character shoes that she doesn't really wear. They totally look like the classic oxford that designers have been redesigning these days. It just shows, don't try to put your clothes in a box. Literally.

Dress, Anthropologie. Necklace, Brandy Melville. Boots, Frye.
I've been dying to put Davis in this dress since I got it. It's just got her sunshiney personality in it and I knew the bright bright leafy greens would stand out on her. I didn't put much else on her because the dress stood so strong on it's own but I popped the bronze necklace on to fill in the deep V of the halter and to repeat the colour of the shoes elsewhere in the outfit.
This is the style I see with my eye.
